Dear Forum artists,
I have recently read about the way that some of you use art as a
survival technique and I was very interested to learn about the
ways art can help you to focus, especially as a student who is
often distracted while trying to do art coursework! I like the
way some of the work seems quite random and other things seem to
express something very particular.
One piece of work that I particularly liked is Curves, by Chris
Barchard,
I like the flowing lines, and the way the tone makes each bit of
the drawing look smooth and 3D. It is almost like loads of
different thoughts all squirming around each other, all squeezed
into a space, but still seems quite calm; I think its the
smooth lines, the softness of the pencil strokes and muted
colours that allow the piece to
be full of movement, but
peaceful too. Curves makes me feel
thoughtful and relaxed. I hope you continue to find release and
focus in art.
Yours faithfully
Katie Cotham
