Just a life

If only?

You had listened when I asked for help.

Looked into my eyes and saw the darkness in my soul.

Recognised my aggression as my distress.

Heard my verbal abuse but then…listened…. to my pain.

Did you see me?

Did you hear me?

I tried to share with you. I wanted to.

I tried to show you. I wanted to.

I tried to stay but felt invisible.

I tried. By God and prayer I tried.

Just an embrace.

Some kind of acknowledgement.

Something to cling onto.

Hope.

If Only?

Just a life!

But it was…my life.
